Capital Construction

The Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Foundation, a non-profit organization, (#61-1273612) provides conservation educational opportunities to Kentucky youth through privately funded scholarships and corporate donations.  In addition, the Foundation provides funds for facility improvements at the three Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources conservation camps.  In keeping with the oldest conservation camping program in the nation, the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Foundation is excited to partner with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources in funding a new dining hall at Camp Currie on Kentucky Lake.

Camp John Currie opened in 1949.  That was almost 70 years ago.  Hundreds of thousands of middle-school aged children have attended a KDFWR camp since then, and still want to.  Many want to learn but can’t without a little help. Join us to provide that chance and make their experiences great ones.

Camp Currie hosts an average of 200 local kids every week from the Bluegrass State’s westernmost 40 counties June through mid-August.  Many of these past campers consider the week spent at KDFWR conservation camps to be a “week that lasts a lifetime.”  Few other opportunities ignite kids’ interest in the natural world and their role to help care for it, or teach them how to safely participate in wildlife and water-related recreation. Summer conservation camp does precisely that.

The Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Foundation was honored to help fund capital construction projects at Camp Currie.  The new dining hall was competed in early spring 2018!  You can still support Camp Currie capital construction projects by sponsoring a crappie!
